According to the data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), in the period from January 1 to September 30, Turkey's export of fresh fruits and vegetables reached a record level of 2 billion 230 million dollars. During this process, a total of 214 million dollars worth of pepper was exported throughout Turkey. Pepper is critically important for the country's agricultural production and plays a significant role in enhancing the impact of Turkish agriculture in international markets.
Particularly, the Western Mediterranean Exporters Union (BAİB) region, which encompasses Antalya, Isparta, and Burdur provinces, holds a strong position in Turkey’s pepper exports. In this region, a total of 550 million dollars worth of fresh fruits and vegetables were exported during the same period. A significant portion of this export, amounting to 151 million dollars, comes from peppers. These data highlight the BAİB region's expertise and market share in pepper production.
The success of the Western Mediterranean in pepper exports is particularly effective in presenting high-quality products to international markets and emphasizing Turkey's advantages in spice and vegetable trade. In addition to peppers, tomatoes also represent an important agricultural product for this region, with exports amounting to 141.9 million dollars. The agricultural sector is gaining increasing importance in Turkey’s economic structure, and this situation positively affects exports.
This increase in pepper exports demonstrates the effectiveness of Turkey's agricultural strategies in international markets. Particularly, Turkish agriculture, focusing on quality, diversity, and sustainable production principles, has gained momentum to meet global demand. The share of the Western Mediterranean in pepper production will continue to play a significant role in Turkey's agricultural economy.
