Azerbaijani Gas Reaches Central European Markets

As of this month, natural gas produced by Azerbaijan has started to be transported to Central European markets via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). With the new natural gas shipments, Germany and Austria have joined the list of countries importing Azerbaijani pipeline gas. This development has increased the number of countries using Azerbaijani natural gas to 16.

Strong Player in the EU Energy Market

SOCAR stated that these deliveries are essential for strengthening the position of Azerbaijani gas in European energy markets. In line with these objectives, Azerbaijan is becoming more visible as a reliable natural gas supplier. Additionally, these new shipments are expected to contribute to Europe's efforts to diversify its energy supply security.

Gas from the Caspian to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor

The Southern Gas Corridor, which transports Azerbaijani gas to Europe, includes multiple pipelines that enable natural gas extracted from the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea to reach Europe through Georgia and Turkey. With the project's gradual completion, commercial gas deliveries began in 2020 after TAP's connection to the network in Italy. The current shipments aim to positively contribute to the supply and demand balance in the European energy markets.
