The first meeting to determine the minimum wage to take effect in 2026 has started at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security at 14:00.
Attending the meeting were Minister of Labor and Social Security Prof. Dr. Vedat Işıkhan, TÜRK-İŞ Deputy General President Ramazan Ağar, and President of the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK) Özgür Burak Akkol.
The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, composed of representatives from workers, employers, and the government, plays a critical role in determining the minimum wage. Minister Işıkhan emphasized the importance of this process by listening to the thoughts of the parties involved during the meeting.
Minister Işıkhan indicated that the approaches and evaluations of both sides are crucial for the Commission's work. He also stressed the need to strengthen social dialogue and consultation mechanisms.
Işıkhan stated that they had listened to the unions' expectations regarding the minimum wage, saying, "As a Ministry, we will continue our work based on social dialogue. We will complete the process with an openness to social dialogue within the functioning of the Commission."
