Amazon (AMZN) and AT&T (T) have developed a significant partnership aimed at modernizing the connectivity infrastructure in the United States. This collaboration targets the integration of AT&T's extensive fiber network with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud technologies. The goal is to update connectivity solutions nationwide to create a more robust infrastructure.
This strategic partnership includes several key elements:
Through this partnership, the combination of AT&T's fiber network and AWS's cloud and artificial intelligence capabilities aims to build a more resilient and flexible connectivity infrastructure. Additionally, AT&T's infrastructure management will be improved, accelerating the modernization of business support systems.
Shawn Hakl, Senior Vice President responsible for AT&T Business products, stated that fiber technology plays a critical role in the speed, capacity, and reliability of future connectivity systems. Jan Hofmeyr, Vice President of AWS Telecommunications, emphasized that AWS aims to leverage AT&T’s fiber network expertise to provide more efficient services.
With the activation of Amazon Leo, AT&T’s fixed broadband services will reach areas lacking internet connectivity. This move aligns with Amazon’s goals to increase global internet access.
The partnership will be showcased more comprehensively at the 2026 Mobile World Congress. AWS is preparing to demonstrate how AT&T has integrated AWS Outposts and artificial intelligence solutions at this event.
