Hotel Occupancy Rate Declined

In August 2023, while there was an increase in the number of overnight stays at accommodation facilities with simple and business licenses, hotel occupancy rates again showed a decline. Data announced by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism reveals that the occupancy rate of 71.15% in July continued into August.

Domestic and Foreign Visitors

The occupancy rate in hotels, which was 76.08% in August of last year, dropped to 71.15% this year, marking a significant decrease. The announced data shows that 42.88% of the hotels' occupancy came from foreign visitors, while 28.27% was from domestic guests.

Number of Overnight Stays Increased

In August, a total of 38 million 164 thousand 348 overnight stays were recorded across Turkey. Last year in the same month, this number was 30 million 381 thousand 718. Of these overnight stays, 23 million 809 were from foreign visitors, and 15 million 162 thousand 539 were from domestic visitors.

Length of Stay Decreased

The total number of visitors to the establishments was announced as 14 million 124 thousand 917. Of this number, 6 million 926 thousand 612 were foreign visitors, and 7 million 198 thousand 305 were domestic visitors. The length of stay for visitors decreased from 2.84 days in August of last year to 2.70 days this year.
