The technology licensing company Adeia has filed two patent lawsuits against the chip giant Advanced Micro Devices’ (AMD) in a federal court in Texas. In these lawsuits, it is alleged that ten patents in the semiconductor field have been infringed.
Adeia claims that AMD has violated its patent rights stemming from inventions made for advanced semiconductor manufacturing by using various processor models used in desktop, laptop, and server applications. Specifically, it is stated that AMD's processors, including artificial intelligence chips, which utilize "3D V-Cache" technology, were produced using Adeia's patented methods.
Adeia stated, “After prolonged efforts to reach a mutual agreement before filing this lawsuit, we believe it is necessary to take this step to defend our intellectual property against AMD’s ongoing unauthorized use.” The California-based company expressed its openness to reach a “fair and reasonable arrangement” with AMD.
Adeia is seeking an unspecified amount of monetary damages and is also awaiting a court order for AMD to cease the use of its patented technology.
