The U.S. LNG Exports Celebrating 10 Years

The President of the U.S. Energy Association (USEA) Mark Menezes stated that liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports will celebrate their 10th anniversary next month, emphasizing that the current export capacity is aimed to be doubled in the coming years.

Role in Energy Policy and Export Volume Increase

Menezes, who previously served as Deputy Secretary at the U.S. Department of Energy, shared his views on the country's energy policies. The U.S., being among the world leaders in natural gas and oil production, generates significant exports, which he stated contributes to the sustainability of LNG and oil supply in global markets.

Stable Growth in 10 Years

The first LNG export from the U.S. occurred 10 years ago, and during this period, it has been reported that the export volume has steadily increased. Noting the high global demand for natural gas, Menezes supported the U.S. capacity expansion goal with the statement: "We will double this capacity in the coming years."

Affordable Natural Gas for Friendly Countries

Menezes pointed out the importance of this capacity increase for allied countries, stating that friendly nations around the world, including Turkey, will have access to affordable natural gas.

U.S. and Turkey Energy Cooperation

Menezes expressed that the energy cooperation between the U.S. and Turkey is not limited to just LNG and nuclear energy, emphasizing the importance of both countries remaining strong allies in terms of global security goals.

Energy Expectations for 2026

Menezes mentioned that data centers are rapidly growing due to the impact of artificial intelligence, noting that this will be met in the short term with natural gas and renewable energy sources, and in the long term with nuclear energy. He also stated that natural gas usage will continue effectively this year.

The Future of Energy

Menezes projected that the growth in LNG exports will continue, along with an increase in the use of renewable energy and battery technologies. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S., which started LNG exports in February 2016, has since shipped natural gas to 48 countries, becoming the world's largest LNG exporter.
