Announcement from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced on Wednesday that the employment report for October would not be published. This situation is due to the federal government shutdown, which ended on November 10, preventing the collection of household survey data.

Comprehensive Data to be Released in November

BLS stated that the non-farm employment data for October would be released alongside the November report. This means that the unemployment rate for October will never be known. The White House had previously warned about this situation.

Data Collection Issues

BLS indicated that the establishment survey data obtained from the current employment statistics survey would also be published with the November report. Additionally, it was stated that due to payment interruptions, household data obtained from the Current Population Survey could not be collected for October.

Postponements and Upcoming Announcements

BLS also announced that the delayed September employment report will be published on Thursday following the 43-day government shutdown. This situation has become a major point of interest for investors and economists.
