After meetings between US and Chinese leaders, positive messages are coming in succession regarding trade relations. In this context, the energy sector has become the most important agenda item.
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that if China reduces its oil purchases from Russia, the US intends to sell more oil and natural gas to China.
In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Wright emphasized that there are many potential agreements that could be mutually beneficial between the two countries. The US is currently the world's largest exporter of oil and gas, while China stands out as the world's largest importer.
The Energy Secretary mentioned that President Donald Trump plans to travel back to Asia in the coming weeks following his tour of Asia. Trump noted that during his trip, he reached an agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung regarding the increased purchase of US oil and gas.
President Trump also referred to a "very large-scale" deal concerning Alaska oil and gas on his social media account Truth Social, but refrained from providing details.
