According to the data from the Directorate General of Population and Citizenship Affairs, a total of 35 million 583 thousand 584 driver's license renewal applications have been made, while 1 million 904 thousand 280 people are still using the old driver's license. Drivers in this situation must complete their renewal process by October 31, or their licenses will be deemed invalid.

Validity of Old Documents Will End on October 31

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya pointed out that the process of renewing old driver's licenses is progressing slowly, warning that the deadline will not be extended. Yerlikaya stated, "October 31 is approaching, and I want to remind you once again that the deadline will not be extended. After this date, old driver's licenses cannot be used, and those who wish to renew will not be able to benefit from the discounted fee."

Price Increases Starting in November

The costs of the driver's license renewal process will also show significant changes. Those who wish to renew their old driver's licenses until October 31 only need to pay 15 lira, while starting from November 1, this fee will be 7 thousand 438 lira for B class driver's licenses. In other words, if the renewal process is not completed, drivers will have to pay an additional 7 thousand 423 lira.

How to Renew a Driver's License?

Individuals wishing to renew their driver's licenses can take an appointment via the Alo 199 Call Center, mobile application, or nvi.gov.tr, and apply to the population directorates with the necessary documents. During applications, documents such as old driver's licenses, a 15 TL application fee, health report, biometric photo, and registered address information must be submitted.

Increase Observed in the Last Application Period

Recent months have shown a notable increase in the number of applications. In August, 96 thousand 134, in September, 57 thousand 858, and in October, 146 thousand 916 applications for changing old driver's licenses were reported.
