Ukraine's Energy Crisis

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasized the impact of the air strikes conducted by the Russian army on the energy infrastructure in a recent post. Zelensky met with ministers and regional representatives in a virtual meeting to receive updated information about Ukraine's energy issues.

Situation in Kyiv and Other Regions

Zelensky stated during the meeting, “The most severe conditions are still in the capital.” He noted that a total of more than 1,400 high-rise buildings in Kyiv are without heating. He underscored the importance of these buildings receiving all necessary support. He emphasized that the increasing energy shortages in many regions of the country have worsened the situation.

Energy Cooperation with Romania

Zelensky thanked those who support the efforts to expand cross-border cooperation with Romania to increase Ukraine's energy resources. He indicated that these efforts are critical for achieving Ukraine's goals of increasing electricity imports. He highlighted the necessity of international cooperation to ensure the country's energy supply security.

Nuclear Power Plants Under Threat

Zelensky shared critical information regarding the safety of nuclear power plants after a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denis Shmyhal. He stated, “The Russian army continues to nearly constantly target our nuclear power plants, including the infrastructure and networks related to them.” He expressed serious concerns regarding the maintenance of national security.
