As we enter the new year in the cryptocurrency market, security concerns are rising. On-chain researcher ZachXBT warns investors with his statements. Hundreds of wallets across different EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) chains are being systematically targeted, and attacks are rapidly continuing.

According to information shared by ZachXBT on his Telegram channel, attackers are targeting many wallets by making transactions with small amounts. Although most victims have suffered losses under two thousand dollars, this strategy is rapidly increasing the total loss. So far, approximately $107,000 has been withdrawn from wallets. However, with the attack still ongoing, there is a warning that this figure could rise.

The initial entry point of the attack has not yet been identified, which keeps the risk that other wallets may have similar vulnerabilities on the agenda. ZachXBT also shared a crypto address that he believes is connected to suspicious activities with the public: 0xAc2e5153170278e24667a580baEa056ad8Bf9bFB. Experts, combining this situation with the recent increase in other security breaches, emphasize that the crypto ecosystem needs to be more vigilant.

According to data from blockchain security company PeckShield, approximately 26 major crypto exploits occurred in December, with total losses reaching around $76 million. This figure represents a decrease of about 60% compared to the $194.27 million loss in November. However, this decrease does not mean that security vulnerabilities can be ignored.

One of the notable events in December occurred at Trust Wallet. During the New Year holiday, a version of the browser extension was exposed to a significant security vulnerability, resulting in a loss of approximately $7 million. Trust Wallet CEO Eowyn Chen stated that the temporary access issues in the Chrome Web Store were platform-related and announced that a compensation process has been initiated for affected users.

According to experts, these recent events once again highlight the need for users to be more cautious about their wallet security and the versions of the applications they use.
