Yılmaz: Our Goal is to Make Artificial Intelligence One of the Key Levers of the Turkey Century

The Vice President of the Republic, Cevdet Yılmaz, made important statements at the ATONET Smart Assistant World Championship Launch Program organized by the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) at ATO Congresium.

Yılmaz stated that ATO demonstrates a strong willingness to transform by blending its long-standing history with an innovative vision. He emphasized that this approach has made ATO a strategic center that foresees the future in the dynamic structure of commerce and the changing rules of global competition.

Digitalization and Competitive Power

He noted that the world championship recognition of the ATONET Smart Assistant Project has made a significant contribution to Turkey's digital competitive power. He also stated that digitalization reshapes economic sizes, competitive power, and the operational spheres of states.

Yılmaz said, “This transformation, extending from production to commerce, from public administration to global value chains, must place digitalization and artificial intelligence at the center of Turkey's development strategy.”

Turkey's Rise in the Manufacturing Industry

Highlighting that Turkey's manufacturing industry production has increased by 30.6% compared to the pre-pandemic period, Yılmaz expressed that Turkey has now become one of the leading production centers in Europe.

Currently, Turkey ranks 14th in the world in terms of value added in the manufacturing industry. This success is a result of the industry adopting digitalization and scaling production with technology.

Artificial Intelligence and Future Vision

Yılmaz stated that they aim to construct the Turkey Century with an artificial intelligence-focused transformation. He expressed that the e-Government system currently reaches 68 million users and provides access to 95% of the population. With these achievements, Turkey holds an important position as an exporting country in e-government and digital fields.

He also mentioned that Turkey's R&D expenditures will rise to $19.9 billion, highlighting the critical importance of this issue for sustainable economic performance.

Digital Transformation and Its Impact

Yılmaz indicated that the e-commerce volume, which was 136 billion lira in 2019, is projected to reach 3 trillion lira by 2024, predicting that digital transformation will accelerate. He emphasized the need for collaboration among public, private sectors, and professional organizations to speed up this process.
