The updated version of the COVID-19 vaccine is expected to be available in October 2025 for individuals aged 6 months and older at selected polyclinics and private general practitioner clinics in Singapore.

Pfizer Singapore and BioNTech SE today announced that the Health Sciences Authority has approved the LP.8.1 compliant monovalent COVID-19 vaccine (COMIRNATY® LP.8.1; COVID-19 Vaccine, mRNA) for individuals aged 6 months and older. This makes Singapore the first country in Southeast Asia to receive full approval for the latest COVID-19 vaccine.

The selection of the LP.8.1 lineage is based on guidance from organizations such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), European Medicines Agency (EMA), and World Health Organization (WHO), and it is noted that this adaptation is the preferred lineage for use in the monovalent COVID-19 vaccine in the United States in fall 2025.

Pfizer representative Deborah Seifert stated, "We continue our commitment to protecting public health through science and innovation. The approval of the updated LP.8.1 compliant monovalent COVID-19 vaccine represents another significant milestone in our efforts to provide protection to communities. By empowering individuals to protect themselves and those around them, we reinforce our belief in maintaining priority and ensuring equity in our vaccination approach."

Dr. Aziz Noordin emphasized, "It is our shared responsibility to remain vigilant with the emergence of new COVID-19 variants. Under Singapore’s comprehensive national COVID-19 vaccination program, the COVID-19 vaccine is provided free of charge to the public, with updated vaccines available for high-risk groups, the elderly, and those with existing health conditions to prevent life-threatening illness and hospitalization."

Vaccines will be provided free of charge under the National Vaccination Program (NVP) to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, long-term pass holders, and certain short-term pass holders.

In order to emphasize the importance of vaccination for public health and safety, all eligible individuals for COVİD-19 vaccines can make appointments at participating general practitioner clinics under the NVP.
