Yandex has announced that it will significantly increase its robot courier fleet.
The company stated that it will produce 1,300 robots per month within a year and will deploy a total of 20,000 next-generation robots by the end of 2027.
Yandex aims to address labor shortages and reduce delivery costs through its robot couriers. The statement mentioned, "In two years, one in ten couriers will be a robot. Our courier robots will primarily serve in St. Petersburg, Kazan, and other Russian cities; the number in Moscow will also increase."
The Yandex courier robots, which were put into service in Moscow in 2019, have completed more than 250,000 deliveries this year. This success signals that more robots will be integrated into delivery processes in the future.
