Volkswagen is recalling 356,649 vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This recall affects certain models manufactured between 2019 and 2026.
The reason for the recall is a detected issue with the rearview camera. This issue can narrow the driver's field of view, increasing the risk of accidents. According to statements made, a software error is preventing the rearview camera from capturing images as intended.
This situation means that the vehicles do not comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 requirements. Volkswagen is preparing to take the necessary steps to address this issue.
Dealers will provide free updates to the driver assistance software for affected vehicles. It is stated that vehicle owners impacted by the recall will be informed by February 17, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Group experienced a significant drop in sales of the Volkswagen brand in the US last year. Sales in the US decreased by 13 percent compared to the previous year, falling to 329,813 units.
