The Venezuelan Supreme Court (TSJ) has decided to appoint Vice President Delcy Rodriguez as the interim President of the country following the detention of President Nicolas Maduro in a U.S. operation.
According to a report by El Nacional, the TSJ announced that Rodriguez would temporarily assume all powers, duties, and responsibilities of the Venezuelan Presidency in order to ensure administrative continuity and the comprehensive defense of the nation.
The statement indicated that the court would extensively discuss how to maintain the continuity of the state, the administration of the government, and the protection of sovereignty due to Maduro's "absence resulting from circumstances beyond his control."
