A significant player in the cybersecurity field, Veeam has acquired Securiti AI for $1.7 billion to provide its customers with greater control and security over their data. Based in Kirkland, Washington, Veeam is reinforcing its commitment to data security in the age of artificial intelligence with this strategic move.
The $1.725 billion deal includes a mix of cash and stock and is expected to be completed in the first week of December. Securiti AI was founded in 2019 by Rehan Jalil and has raised over $156 million in venture capital since then.
Jalil will serve as the head of security and artificial intelligence at Veeam following the acquisition.
Veeam CEO Anand Eswaran stated, "We have entered a new era for data. It’s no longer just about protecting data, but also managing all your data and instilling trust in artificial intelligence."
This acquisition indicates that this year has seen a consolidation in the data sector. Data companies are developing growth strategies to help their customers adopt artificial intelligence. Previously, Databricks acquired Neon for $1 billion in May, while Salesforce purchased Informatica for $8 billion.
