Olive Production Expectations

The President of the National Olive and Olive Oil Council (NOOOC) Mustafa Tan announced that the expected olive production in Turkey for the 2025-2026 season is 2 million 450 thousand tons.

Production Estimate Studies

Tan stated that the production estimates are determined by data prepared by commissions established under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, which consist of NOOOC, chambers, exchanges, Aegean Exporters’ Associations, and producer unions. The studies are supported by on-site assessments conducted in 41 provinces of Turkey.

"Off Year" Situation and Production Expectations

This year is described as an "off year" for the olive growing sector. It is estimated that olive production will be 2 million 450 thousand tons, which represents a 35% decrease compared to the previous year. This figure is higher than production levels during past 'off' years.

Table Olive and Olive Oil Production

According to estimates, table olive production is expected to be 740 thousand tons, close to last year’s level, while olive oil production is expected to be around 310 thousand tons. Tan noted that the olives this year are of larger size.

Developments in the Sector

Mustafa Tan expressed that the number of traditional olive trees in Turkey has increased to 110 million, which has been effective in reducing the differences between "off" and "on" years. Tan emphasized that Turkey has sufficient olive oil capacity for both the domestic market and exports.
