According to Reuters, Uber Technologies has agreed to purchase the food unit of the Turkish delivery firm Getir. This move is a significant step in terms of Abu Dhabi's $330 billion sovereign wealth fund Mubadala exiting the Turkish market and also aims to increase Uber Eats' market share in Turkey.
According to several sources, it is expected that the results of the review conducted by the Turkish Competition Authority will be awaited before the proposal is finalized. However, sources emphasized that the proposed sale price has not yet been determined and any agreement may not be finalized. It was stated that the proposed offer has been submitted to the authorities "for final approval."
Both Uber and Mubadala officials did not provide further details about this potential transaction. Getir, on the other hand, directed questions regarding the matter to Mubadala. The Competition Authority has not yet made a statement.
According to a Bloomberg report published at the beginning of this month, although the discussions between Uber and Mubadala have not yet been finalized, it was noted that preliminary meetings had begun. Last month, Mubadala sold the car rental firm Getir Arac to Tiktak. In September, it was reported that Mubadala was in discussions regarding potential sales involving various units, including Getir Food.
