A law signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov establishes a legal framework for virtual assets, categorizing these assets as property. With this regulation, cryptocurrency mining and trading will be required to register with the central bank.

The new legislation also mandates compliance with anti-money laundering rules for these transactions. Thus, the Turkmen government aims to strengthen the financial system and create a more robust investment environment.
