The foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in Turkey has been brought under control.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced an important development regarding the SAT-1 serotype foot-and-mouth disease that has been affecting Turkey as a whole. The ministry reported that, as a result of intense efforts, the outbreak has been brought under control. This disease is a viral infection that poses significant threats to both the livestock sector and food safety.

In the statement, it was noted that effective measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the disease, including intensive vaccination campaigns, strict quarantine practices, and regular field inspections. It was shared that, especially with the widespread distribution of vaccines, 92% of the country's cattle population has been vaccinated. This rate is a critical data point demonstrating the success of the vaccination efforts carried out nationwide.

The ministry also announced that the second round of vaccination campaigns has begun. This campaign is of great importance for completely eradicating the disease and protecting the health of animals. In addition to vaccination procedures, regular sample collections from the field are being carried out to continue genetic tracking of the virus. This process plays a crucial role in monitoring the disease's course and detecting potential new outbreaks in advance.
