The number of income tax taxpayers in Turkey has exceeded 3 million.

The Number of Income Taxpayers is Increasing in Türkiye

According to a new report based on data from the Revenue Administration (GİB), the number of income tax taxpayers in Türkiye has reached 3 million 6 thousand 533 as of 2024. By December 2025, this number is expected to increase by 400 thousand 44 on an annual basis, marking a growth rate of 15.3%.

İstanbul, Ankara, and İzmir Stand Out

The majority of new taxpayers are registered in İstanbul, with a total of 685 thousand 872 individuals. Following Ankara comes with 207 thousand 573 taxpayers. İzmir is noted for having 195 thousand 458 taxpayers.

Increase in Corporate Tax and Other Tax Types

During this period, the number of corporate tax taxpayers has also increased by 42 thousand 760, reaching a total of 1 million 234 thousand 135. This increase corresponds to a rate of 3.6%.

On the other hand, the number of VAT taxpayers has risen by 456 thousand 249, reaching 4 million 161 thousand 427, with an increase rate of 12.3%.

Significant Increase in the Number of Taxpayers Earning Rental Income

Due to the audits conducted by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the number of real estate capital income (GMSİ) taxpayers has risen by 496 thousand 633, reaching 3 million 206 thousand 999. This category's increase has been recorded at 18.3%.

Decrease in the Number of Taxpayers Under Simple Taxation

However, there has been a 34.3% decrease in the number of income tax taxpayers under simple taxation, totaling 539 thousand 739. With the official regulation dated September 9, 2025, it was decided to narrow the scope of transactions involving the purchase and sale of goods under simple taxation in 13 metropolitan areas with certain exceptions.
