In recent years, the number of registered electric vehicles in Turkey has seen a significant increase with the adoption of environmentally friendly fuel alternatives. Electric vehicles are rapidly gaining popularity among users due to their low carbon emissions, energy efficiency, and noise pollution reduction features.

What Do TÜİK Data Say?

According to data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of registered electric cars was only 565 in 2015, while this figure increased to 183,776 by 2024. Additionally, this number is expected to reach 370,591 by December 2025.

Annual Increase and Share Ratio

The annual growth rate of electric cars is recorded as approximately 102 percent by 2025. As of last year, the share of electric vehicles in the total registered automobiles was calculated to be 2.1 percent; this rate was 1.1 percent in 2024.

The Rise of Hybrid Vehicles

Data on hybrid cars was first recorded in 2011 as 23 units. The number of registered hybrid cars rose to 13,877 in 2019, and by the end of 2023, this figure reached 222,328. For the upcoming years, it is expected that 391,296 and 697,027 hybrid vehicles will be registered in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Total Number of Vehicles in Traffic

Last year, the total number of registered cars in Turkey was calculated to be 17,373,581.
