Urgent Additional Salary Increase Needed from Türkiye Kamu-Sen

The President of Türkiye Kamu-Sen, Önder Kahveci, stated at a press conference held in front of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance that the purchasing power of public employees and retirees has been decreasing day by day and that living conditions have become unsustainable.

Statement on Inflation Data

With the announcement of inflation data for the year 2025, Kahveci emphasized that the salary increases for civil servants and retirees are inadequate compared to real-life conditions, noting that inflation rates have risen while salaries have diminished.

Issues of Poverty and Hunger Threshold

Kahveci pointed out that civil servant salaries are below the poverty line, and retiree salaries are below the hunger line, stating that the lowest civil servant salary must be raised above the poverty line.

Need for Additional Salary and Welfare Shares

Kahveci expressed that the desire of civil servants to retire has decreased, and this issue can only be resolved by applying an additional salary increase to civil servant and retiree salaries. He stated, "A welfare share should be added to civil servant salaries."

Income Tax Regulations

Kahveci highlighted the importance of establishing a uniform employment model in the public sector, stating, "We say that there should be justice in both the good and the burden. The injustices arising from status differences should come to an end. Salary increases should align with market realities."

Listing the demands for Public Employees and Retirees, Kahveci said, "We expect an additional increase in civil servant and retiree salaries, a fixed income tax rate of 15%, and the inclusion of additional payments into retiree salaries."

Demands for Additional Indicators

Kahveci emphasized that the additional indicator figures of all civil servants in the first degree should be raised to 3600, expressing the necessity of urgently implementing policies that will provide fundamental solutions to the salary issue.

A New Salary Policy is Needed

Kahveci stated that a new salary policy is essential to ensure equal pay for equal work, that retirees and employees reach a sufficient level of income, and that injustices arising from status differences are resolved.
