Türk Telekom, taking an important step to lead Turkey's digital transformation, opened the Solar Power Plant it built in Sivas Zara with 5G technology from İstanbul. This opening was held at the 11th Energy Efficiency Forum and Fair, attended by Alparslan Bayraktar, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and Ümit Önal, CEO of Türk Telekom.
The opening ceremony was managed simultaneously from İstanbul thanks to the high speed and low latency features provided by 5G. This demonstrated Türk Telekom's capabilities in remote management and showcased how the new opportunities offered by technology can be utilized.
Türk Telekom’s Sivas Zara Solar Power Plant is notable for its annual energy production capacity of approximately 200 million kWh. This power enables the facility to become one of Turkey's largest renewable energy plants, designed to meet 15% of the company's annual electricity consumption. Thus, it has made a significant contribution to the company’s sustainable energy goals.
In addition, Türk Telekom plans to implement new Solar Energy Projects in provinces such as Malatya and Ağrı, following Sivas. Aiming to reach a total installed capacity target of 530 MWp, these projects will play an important role in increasing Turkey's renewable energy potential.
Türk Telekom aims to be a pioneer not only in energy production but also in the 5G era. With its innovative solutions, it continues to contribute to Turkey's digital transformation process and invest in the future through its environmentally friendly projects.
