TURKSTAT Announced 2024 Labor Cost Statistics

Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) has announced the Labor Cost Statistics for the year 2024. According to the data, the average monthly labor cost in 2024 was reported as 45,777 TL.

Labor Costs by Sector

According to TURKSTAT data, the finance and insurance activities sector leads in terms of monthly labor cost, with an average of 119,868 TL. This is followed by information and communication (average 94,096 TL) and the education sector (average 67,397 TL). However, the construction sector has the lowest labor cost, with an average of only 26,047 TL.

Earnings Under Collective Bargaining Agreements

While the gross monthly earnings of employees outside collective bargaining agreements were recorded as 35,821 TL, those under collective bargaining agreements were reported as 68,730 TL. This shows that workers covered by collective bargaining agreements earn %92 more.

Components of Labor Cost

Within the labor cost:
- Share of gross earnings: %85.7
- Share of social security payments: %13.9
- Share of other payments: %0.4 has been determined.

Payment Components and Ratios

Regular payments made for worked hours take the largest share among earnings components at %78.4, while the share of irregular payments is %9.9, payments for unworked hours account for %8.6, and in-kind payments make up %2.7. The share of payments made to savings funds was reported as %0.4.

Social Security Payments

Among social security payments, mandatory payments dominate with a share of %84.3, while voluntary social security payments account for %0.7. Severance and notice pay contributions were noted as %15.0.
