TURKSTAT Announces 2024 Labor Cost Statistics

Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) has announced the Labor Cost Statistics for the year 2024. According to the data, the average monthly labor cost in 2024 is recorded as 45,777 TL.

Labor Costs by Sector

According to TURKSTAT data, the financial and insurance activities sector ranks first in terms of monthly labor cost, with an average of 119,868 TL. This is followed by the information and communication sector (average of 94,096 TL) and the education sector (average of 67,397 TL). However, the construction sector has the lowest labor cost, with an average of only 26,047 TL.

Earnings Under Collective Bargaining Agreements

The gross monthly earnings of employees not covered by collective bargaining agreements are recorded as 35,821 TL, while the gross monthly earnings of those covered by collective bargaining agreements are 68,730 TL. This indicates that the earnings of workers under collective bargaining agreements are 92% higher.

Within labor cost:
- Share of gross earnings: %85.7
- Share of social security payments: %13.9
- Share of other payments: %0.4.

Payment Components and Ratios

Regular payments for worked hours take the largest share of earnings components at %78.4, while irregular payments account for %9.9, payments for non-working hours contribute %8.6, and in-kind payments comprise %2.7. Payments made to savings funds account for %0.4.

Social Security Payments

Within social security payments, mandatory payments hold a leading position at %84.3, while voluntary social security payments account for %0.7. Severance and notice pay payments are noted at %15.0.
