U.S. President Donald Trump was honored with the “FIFA Peace Award” for his contributions to world peace ahead of the 2026 World Cup draw.
Trump was awarded this honor, presented for the first time by FIFA, before the draw held in Washington. Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, highlighted Trump's peace efforts during his term while presenting the award on stage.
Infantino noted during the award ceremony that Trump played a significant role in ending certain wars around the world. After receiving the award, Trump referenced the conflicts between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, as well as the tensions between India and Pakistan, stating, “We saved millions of lives.”
In addition to the award, Trump thanked his family for their support throughout the process, as well as the leaders of Canada and Mexico for their partnership in organizing the World Cup. He stated, “The world is a safer place right now.”
Last month, FIFA announced that it would present the FIFA Peace Award for the first time to an individual who has made significant contributions to world peace.
