Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ), who regained his freedom with a pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump, garnered attention with the statement, "We will make America the capital of crypto." This development increases CZ's influence over Binance, enhancing the likelihood of the exchange making a strong return to the U.S. market.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Binance plans to take strategic steps to integrate Binance.US with global operations or allow the main platform to operate directly in the U.S.. Trump’s pardon represents not only a personal comeback for CZ but also an important opportunity for Binance to re-enter the American market. In 2023, CZ stepped down from his CEO position due to allegations of failure to prevent money laundering, and this pardon marks the beginning of his second adventure in the crypto sector.
Currently, Binance holds about 50% of global Bitcoin transactions, while Binance.US's share remains below 1%. In this context, while Coinbase continues to maintain its dominant position in the U.S. market, experts believe that with CZ’s return, Binance could consolidate its U.S. operations, increase liquidity, and gain a competitive edge with lower transaction fees. Following the pardon, the price of BNB saw an increase of nearly 8%, reflecting the market's positive response. This situation may also open doors for Binance's activities in other regulatory markets such as South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.
In a post from the airplane after the announcement of the pardon, CZ thanked Trump, stating, "I am grateful for today’s pardon. I thank President Trump for upholding America’s commitment to justice, innovation, and fairness. We will do our best to make America the capital of crypto." These developments bring significant opportunities for investors, with eyes keenly focused on Binance's moves in the U.S. market.
