Trip.com Group took the stage at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2025 held at Excel London, showcasing innovative ideas that shape the future of travel. While organizing sessions focused on the strategic development of travel from global and European perspectives, they shared their expertise on digital transformation, personalization, and sustainability.
Boon Sian Chai, General Manager and Vice President of International Markets at Trip.com Group, emphasized in a panel on China's Outbound Travel that travel motivations have shifted from escapism to connection. Referring to the Why Travel? report prepared in collaboration with Google, he stated that today's travelers are more intent on seeking meaning, authentic experiences, and values.
The report indicated a 53% annual increase in searches for cultural experiences, with rising demand for wellness. For instance, searches for "golf & spa holidays" increased by 300% annually, while interest in "ski & spa" packages grew by 250%.
Andy Washington introduced a new platform called Trip.Planner, noting that they have created a central hub that facilitates the travel planning process. "This platform offers flexibility, transparency, and inspiration tailored to the needs of travel agents and travelers in one place," he said. They aim to shape innovations in line with local market needs alongside their expansion plans in Europe.
Jane McFadzean, Senior Director of Global Sustainability, highlighted how the travel industry can play a role in making more responsible choices. She mentioned that research shows 92% of travelers have increasing demands for more sustainable travel, yet 60% of them have not translated these demands into action. This indicates that Trip.com's platforms have the potential to close this gap by making responsible travel choices visible and easy.
Trip.com Group's presence at the WTM London 2025 event showcased the company's global expertise, along with insights into artificial intelligence innovations, sustainability leadership, and changing travel trends. These core elements reinforce the company's commitment to shaping a smarter and more sustainable travel future.
