


The Ministry of Trade announced that the regulation regarding the sale of second-hand motor vehicles has been extended for 6 months and 6,000 kilometers. This extension aims to combat speculative price increases and hoarding occurring in the automotive sector.
In a written statement, the Ministry emphasized that measures taken to eliminate speculative price formations and hoarding activities in the automotive market will be enhanced. Second-hand motor vehicles cannot be marketed or sold until 6 months and 6,000 kilometers have passed since their first registration, and sales will be prohibited until July 1, 2026.
According to the regulations, businesses with a certificate of authorization in the sale of second-hand motor vehicles, as well as individuals who sell three or more vehicles a year, will be prevented by notaries from making sales that violate the 6 months-6,000 kilometers rule.
The application period for the authorization certificate in the sale of second-hand motor vehicles has been extended by 7 months to April 1, 2026 for those registered with tax or professional chambers as of August 27, 2024. This extension only pertains to the application for the authorization certificate.
The Ministry announced that with these regulations, efforts will be meticulously continued to ensure price stability, establish a fair market structure, and prevent unregistered activities. It was stated that additional measures will be implemented if necessary.
