Tesla is recalling over 63,000 Cybertruck vehicles in the United States. The reason for the recall is that the front headlights are too bright, which can disturb other drivers and increase the risk of collision.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the recall affects specific Cybertruck vehicles manufactured between the 2024 and 2026 model years. The affected vehicles were produced between November 13, 2023, and October 11, 2025, and have software version 2025.38.3 or earlier.
The safety agency also added that Tesla has not been notified of any incidents related to collisions, injuries, or fatalities due to this issue. The company, led by Elon Musk, will offer a free software update to fix the problem.
Earlier this month, federal regulators opened another investigation into Tesla's autonomous driving feature. The investigation encompasses numerous incidents where vehicles ran red lights, drove on the wrong side of the road, and sometimes collided with other vehicles, causing injuries.
NHTSA reported that it is investigating 58 incidents where the company violated traffic safety laws while using the Full Self-Driving mode, resulting in over ten collision and fire incidents and nearly twenty injuries. The new investigation adds to ongoing inquiries into Tesla technology and could pressure Musk to advance updates aimed at making current vehicles fully driverless.
In March, U.S. safety regulators recalled nearly all Cybertruck vehicles on the road. The NHTSA's recall encompassed over 46,000 Cybertruck vehicles and included a warning that the exterior panel on the left and right side of the windshield could detach while in motion.
On Wednesday, Tesla reported a sequential drop in fourth-quarter profits despite rising sales. Third-quarter earnings fell by 37% year-over-year to $1.4 billion, or 39 cents per share. This means profits have declined for four consecutive quarters. Following the drop in sales, a rush of customers before the expiration of the federal electric vehicle tax credit could affect sales in this quarter.
