


The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) announced that its total reserves decreased by 4.8 billion dollars in the week ending January 2, 2026. Thus, reserves fell to 189.1 billion dollars. The previous week, this figure was recorded as 193.9 billion dollars.
A significant decrease was also observed in the TCMB’s net international reserves. Net reserves, which were 79.8 billion dollars the previous week, dropped by 2.9 billion dollars to 76.9 billion dollars as of the last week.
Market analysts reported that a larger change occurred in the net reserves excluding swaps item, which the TCMB closely monitors in terms of liquidity and reserve adequacy. When excluding swap transactions with domestic and foreign banks, net reserves decreased by 4.9 billion dollars, falling to 62.6 billion dollars. This value was 67.5 billion dollars the previous week.
