A global player in automobile manufacturing, Stellantis has announced plans to invest 13 billion dollars over the next four years to expand its operations in the U.S. and increase local production capacity.
As part of this plan, Stellantis aims to introduce 5 new vehicles within its brand portfolio. Additionally, production of new four-cylinder engines will take place in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana states, with the goal of creating over 5,000 new jobs.
This anticipated 13 billion dollar investment will mark the largest investment in Stellantis' 100-year history in the U.S., aiming to increase annual vehicle production by 50 percent and expand market share. Along with new product launches and innovations in powertrains, there are plans for a 19 model refresh at all U.S. assembly plants by 2029.
In particular, a 600 million dollar investment in the Belvidere Assembly Plant aims to boost production of the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Compass. The reopening of this plant is expected to provide 3,300 new job opportunities.
With a planned 400 million dollar investment in Ohio, production of a new mid-size pickup model designated for Belvidere will be relocated to the Toledo Assembly Complex, creating more than 900 new job opportunities.
Stellantis plans to realize its electric vehicle (EV) and internal combustion engine SUV model development plans at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan by 2028. A 100 million dollar modernization of the facility is expected to create 900 new jobs.
