Significant developments are being recorded in oil production for the year 2025. The various fields located in the Gabar region of Şırnak province have attracted attention with a daily production level of 80 thousand barrels. Among these fields are Şehit Aybüke Yalçın, Şehit Esma Çevik, Şehit Teğmen Akdeniz, Bulmuşlar, Mehmet İrfan Güler, and Bülent Sadioğlu fields.
Minister Bayraktar stated that the revenue derived from crude oil obtained from these fields varies due to significant economic parameters such as oil prices, exchange rates, and production levels, as well as influences from geopolitical developments and global supply-demand balances. He also expressed that the number of personnel assigned to the fields varies depending on the intensity of operations.
According to Minister Bayraktar's statements, it was emphasized that the state share must be directly transferred to the central budget in accordance with the Turkish Petroleum Law No. 6491. The Minister reminded that oil revenues are not directly shared with local governments such as provincial special administrations or municipalities through a cash transfer system, and indicated that legal regulations planned in this regard are also on the agenda.
The draft proposal suggesting that local governments be allocated a share from oil revenues came up during the discussions of the Bill Proposal No. 5574 for amending the Turkish Petroleum Law, he stated, but noted that this regulation could not be enacted due to insufficient majority voting.
The high production figures of the Gabar region, which has a strong oil production capacity, hold critical importance for Turkey’s energy independence goals. With advancing technologies and increasing production capacity, new investments to be made in the region are expected to contribute significantly to economic growth.
