The Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Authority (SEDDK) has made important changes to the compulsory traffic insurance regulation. The new regulation published in the Official Gazette will come into effect on January 1, 2026.
For policies to be issued for individual operators, the premiums will be determined based on the type of use. While up to 5 vehicles in the same vehicle group will be evaluated specifically, after 5 vehicles, corporate pricing will come into effect. This signifies an important change for policies reported as individuals but operated as fleets.
As part of the regulation, coverage limits have been increased for all vehicle groups. For the automobile vehicle group, the coverage limits for the year 2026 have been increased by 33 percent:
Similar updates have been made with comparable rates for other vehicle groups.
For taxis, minibuses, and buses within the Risky Insurance Pool, the discount rate applied in the 7th level has been reduced from 40 percent to 30 percent. This will affect both the insurance obligations of drivers and passengers.
Health expenses, disability, and death coverages for minibuses with 10-17 seats have been increased from 6,075,000 TL to 8,080,000 TL. Additionally, this amount for buses with 18-30 seats has been raised from 15,795,000 TL to 21,008,000 TL. For buses with 31 or more seats, this figure has been increased from 31,590,000 TL to 42,015,000 TL.
As a result, the changes made by SEDDK will directly impact the compulsory traffic insurance sector and policyholders, shaping market dynamics.
