Railport, the first private intermodal terminal in Turkey, has successfully carried out its first train departure. This significant step not only marks the beginning of railway terminal operations but also highlights Turkey's aim to increase its intermodal transportation capacity.
Arkas Holding Port and Terminal Group announced that the Railport terminal will bring together various transportation fields, such as road and rail. With this, it aims to offer more effective logistics solutions.
The operation of the first departure from Railport was carried out by Metrans, an expert in intermodal transportation. This collaboration between Railport and Metrans aims to increase the use of railways in cargo transportation between Turkey and Europe.
Railport stands out with its terminal infrastructure designed with high standards and its large handling capacity. This location will allow cargo transported by rail between Turkey and Europe to be shipped in a more organized, secure, and sustainable manner.
Railport's General Manager Fatih Yılmazkarasu stated that this first train departure is a concrete indication of the contribution the terminal will make to Turkey's railway transportation. Yılmazkarasu said, "This operation represents the beginning of our long-term strategy aimed at ensuring a more effective use of intermodal transportation in our country and offering competitive options to our customers."
