The General Director of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ersin Dilber, shared striking information regarding Turkey's agricultural exports. Highlighting that the perception surrounding the products returned from abroad in recent years is misleading, Dilber emphasized the need to correct this situation. He stated that only 0.16 to 2 of the products exported from our country are returned. In other words, a maximum of 2 trucks out of every 1000 are returned for various reasons. Among these reasons are pesticide residues, toxic substances, contaminated organisms, and trade disputes.
The issues raised at the Uludağ Food Summit are of great importance for Turkey's agricultural production. Dilber emphasized that the number of organisms harmful to agricultural production has increased by 15% in the past 10 years and pointed out the necessity of using the appropriate pesticides correctly to combat this situation. In this context, the careful application of pesticides plays a critical role in increasing the quality of agricultural products and ensuring compliance with international standards.
As international competition in Turkey's agricultural sector continues to grow, the low rates of returned products stand out as a significant advantage. This is important not only in terms of product quality but also for enhancing reliability in the export market. Turkey must effectively deal with such issues to ensure safety in both domestic and foreign markets.
In conclusion, the rates of returned products in Turkey’s agricultural exports demonstrate how effectively agricultural policies are being implemented. In this light, activities aimed at combating harmful organisms and raising awareness regarding pesticide use gain importance. The effective implementation of Turkey's agricultural policies will continue to strengthen its position in international markets.
