A New Proposal for Antalya Tourism from Özgüven: Charter Flights

TÜRSAB Regional Representation Council Presidential Candidate Özgüven made an important suggestion for Antalya tourism. He emphasized the necessity of opening at least 10% of charter flights to individual tourists to enhance the growth of the tourism sector and better cater to local tourists. Özgüven noted that this approach could change the tourism dynamics in the region.

Antalya primarily gains its tourism revenue from 5-star hotel establishments. However, the current system caters primarily to a specific segment, which hinders the development of local tourism. Özgüven stated that supporting individual tours would provide diversity in tourism and contribute significantly to the local economy.

Historically, charter flights have generally been used by groups and large tour operators. However, Özgüven believes this situation needs to change. He thinks that flights allocated to individual travelers in a certain proportion, booked six months in advance, would innovate Antalya's tourism. Facing more options would enrich local tourists' vacation plans and increase competition in the sector.

In this context, Özgüven also called on local tourism firms. He pointed out the need for packages that meet the needs of individual tourists, expressing that this vision could come to life through the collaboration of industry players. This way, he added, Antalya's tourism potential could be utilized more effectively.

To enhance Antalya's competitive power in tourism, merely increasing the number of hotels is not sufficient. Innovative ideas need to be implemented, and the existing infrastructure must be used effectively. Collaboration with regulatory bodies is crucial for individual tourists to benefit from charter flights. At this stage, Özgüven emphasizes the importance of all stakeholders acting together.
