Danish energy company Orsted has drawn attention by announcing its new business plans and strategic priorities.
The company stated that it will focus more on offshore wind energy, particularly the European market, in the upcoming period.
Orsted indicated that it will terminate the employment of approximately 2000 people, which is about a quarter of its workforce, by the end of 2027. The reason behind this decision is to achieve annual savings of approximately 2 billion Danish kroner (about 270 million euros) as part of the company’s efficiency measures.
Recent disruptions in the U.S., global supply chain issues, significantly rising interest rates, and project delays have impacted Orsted's business plans. The company’s activities in the U.S. have been severely slowed down, particularly due to former President Donald Trump's stance against green energy projects.
