Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced on Tuesday that the AI giant has signed a significant contract with the federal government. Huang detailed this agreement during a speech at an event in Washington D.C..
As part of this collaboration, it is stated that seven new AI supercomputers will be built in conjunction with the Department of Energy. These supercomputers will assist in maintaining and developing the United States' nuclear weapon inventory. They will also be used for research into alternative energy sources such as nuclear fusion.
Huang also revealed that the company has received a total of $500 billion in reservations for Blackwell and Rubin chips over the next five quarters. “I believe we are the first technology company in history to have a total visibility of half a trillion dollars for Blackwell and Rubin chips,” he stated. Huang emphasized this situation by noting that 2025 has not yet ended and 2026 has not yet begun.
While Nvidia continues to make deals worldwide, it also has to manage the trade war between the United States and China. Huang expressed that Nvidia has not yet requested a license from the U.S. government to ship Blackwell AI processors to China. “They made it very clear that they do not want Nvidia to be there. I hope this will change in the future because China is a very important market for me,” he stated.
Additionally, Nvidia has managed to maintain good relations with U.S. President Donald Trump by producing some of its products domestically. Trump stated that the two leaders will meet this week and praised Huang, saying, “We are accelerating the construction of AI infrastructure and bringing critical chip and semiconductor production back to the country.” It is also known that Trump will discuss economic relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping the day before this meeting.
