The President of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), İbrahim Kalın, will participate in important negotiations in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, on October 12, 2023, aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza. These negotiations aim to strengthen international cooperation with the goal of reducing tensions in the region and establishing a lasting peace environment.
Among the main topics to be discussed in the negotiations are the establishment of a ceasefire in Gaza, the realization of prisoner exchanges, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region. This process also emphasizes the coordination among international actors.
Prior to the negotiations, MIT President Kalın held bilateral meetings with representatives from the USA, Egypt, Qatar, and Hamas. As a result of the meetings held in Doha last week, indirect negotiations were initiated to improve the situation in Gaza and advance the dialogue process. In this context, Turkey's participation plays an important role in strengthening regional cooperation.
Efforts to stabilize the situation in Gaza are critical not only for the security of the region but also for achieving regional peace. Kalın's negotiations in Sharm El Sheikh represent a significant link in these efforts and support the pursuit of a lasting solution among the actors in the region.
