UNDO, as a global leader in enhanced rock weathering (ERW), has signed an important agreement with Microsoft aimed at reducing carbon emissions. This agreement aims to permanently remove 28,900 tons of carbon dioxide from the environment by the year 2036. The financing of the agreement will be provided by Inlandsis, a Canadian climate fund.
Inlandsis will provide the necessary capital through this debt financing structure to fully realize this acquisition. It will also enable the scaling of high-standard ERW projects globally. This is the third commercial agreement between UNDO and Microsoft, continuing a relationship that began with a 5,000 ton carbon dioxide reduction contract in 2023.
The second agreement signed in 2024 committed to the reduction of 15,000 tons of carbon dioxide. The total of the three agreements brings Microsoft's carbon reduction commitment with UNDO to 49,000 tons.
Jim Mann, Founder and CEO of UNDO, stated, "Innovative financing is a catalyst for achieving gigaton-level carbon reductions." The support from Inlandsis strengthens efforts to transform carbon reduction into a true asset class.
David Moffat, Managing Director of Inlandsis, expressed, "We are pleased to invest in this strategic and innovative agreement. This collaboration contributes to strengthening the relationship between Microsoft and UNDO."
Phillip Goodman, Carbon Reduction Portfolio Manager at Microsoft, highlighted that enhanced rock weathering is a promising path for gigaton-level carbon reductions. UNDO's scientific rigor enhances our confidence in the durability of these credits.
UNDO, with the support of leading brands such as Barclays, British Airways, and McLaren, plans to spread millions of tons of mineral-rich silicate rock annually. This is a significant step to address urgent climate challenges.
In September 2025, Barclays signed its first contract with UNDO for carbon reduction, which will enable the removal of 6,538 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. UNDO also made an agreement with British Airways to obtain over 4,000 tons of carbon reduction credits, leveraging its strong scientific infrastructure.
Since 2022, UNDO has been working on enhanced rock weathering technology in collaboration with climate experts. This technology provides soil and crop benefits to agricultural communities while removing carbon from the atmosphere.
