Striking Proposal for Foreign Digital Media Tax from MHP

Deputy Chairman of MHP and Kayseri Member of Parliament İsmail Özdemir has taken an important step regarding tax regulations for foreign digital media platforms operating in Turkey. Özdemir emphasized that the taxes levied on these platforms should be increased with the bill he presented to the Parliament.

The proposal suggests raising the tax rate applied to foreign digital media companies to 12.5 percent. Özdemir stated that this regulation is an approach that will highlight domestic firms, pointing out that maintaining the current application would create a fairer situation. This suggestion aims to reduce the unequal competitive situation between domestic and foreign firms in the digital media sector within the Turkish economy.
