Memur-Sen, following the announcement of the inflation figures for September, issued a written statement emphasizing the demand for improvements in the salaries of the civil servants they represent. In the statement, it was noted that the increase rates determined by the 7th Term Arbitration Board have completely eroded against inflation, resulting in losses.
As of September, the inflation rate was announced as 3.23 percent. With the September data, the total 3-month inflation rate for the period from July to September was realized as 7.51 percent. This development led to a significant decrease in the purchasing power of civil servants and resulted in an inflation difference of 2.39 percent.
In this context, Memur-Sen raised alarms about the inadequacy of the given increases, stating that the 5 percent increase rate determined for the second half of 2025 could only withstand for three months, and this situation exacerbated the negative effects on civil servants. The statement indicated that the government’s understanding of salary increases is far from raising the living standards of civil servants.
Rising living conditions and current inflation rates have caused concern among civil servants. The erosion of raises, losing their significance, threatens not only civil servants but also their families' financial situations. In this regard, the calls made to the government and the requested improvements hold critical importance in terms of protecting the living standards of civil servants.
This picture reveals that the salary increases alone are not sufficient for civil servants, as well as the fact that these increases have eroded against inflation. In light of all these developments, Memur-Sen representatives announced that they would create a broader protest and action plan unless necessary steps were taken. While the struggle for civil servants' rights continues, it was emphasized that sensitivity about this issue needs to be raised across all segments of society.
