Continuing to draw attention as Asia's best-performing currency last year, the Malaysian ringgit is receiving hopeful forecasts. The Managing Director of the Khazanah Nasional sovereign wealth fund, Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, stated that this currency is expected to strengthen even further in the upcoming period.
Wan Zahir emphasized that the strong position of the ringgit increases confidence in the country's financial stability. He also mentioned that it ensures sustained interest in Malaysian assets in the global markets. In recent quarters, the Malaysian economy has shown growth performance well above expectations.
Despite the negative impacts created by high US tariffs, Wan Zahir noted that Malaysia's economic activity has been resilient, stating that the stock market index reached its highest levels in the last seven years. This situation proves that the country's economic fundamentals remain robust against global trade barriers.
In an interview with Bloomberg in Davos, Wan Zahir pointed out Malaysia's strategic location and the resources of its economic resilience. He indicated that investor sentiment has been positively influenced, reinforcing the country's economic leadership in the region and underscoring that current data creates a promising foundation for future investments.
