LONDON, October 29, 2025 – According to the latest global forecasts provided by Omdia, the revenue of Communication Providers (CP) is expected to reach $5.6 trillion by 2030. This growth will occur at an annual growth rate of 6.2% starting from 2025.

One of the main drivers of growth is technological innovation, infrastructure expansion, and strategic investments in 6G and Artificial Intelligence (AI) sectors. The report indicates that traditional telecom revenue will show modest growth at 2.7%, while the technology segment driven by hyperscale platforms such as Amazon, Alphabet, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft is expected to grow at an impressive 9.4% CAGR and account for 55.9% of total CP revenue.

Dario Talmesio, Omdia Research Director, stated, "Telecom operators are entering a new phase of strategic investment. As the demands for 6G on the horizon and AI infrastructure increase, we are seeing a shift from volume-based pricing in the connectivity business to a value-focused connectivity approach."

CAPEX Trends and Investment Drivers

Omdia forecasts that telecom capital expenditures (capex) will reach $395 billion by 2030 and exhibit a 3.6% CAGR. Investments in technology are expected to soar to $545 billion, showing a 9.3% CAGR. The investment momentum is expected to shift to mobile networks from 2028, as Tier 1 markets prepare for 6G deployments. Fixed telecom expenditures will gradually decrease due to market saturation. Meanwhile, AI infrastructure, cloud services, and digital sovereignty policies are driving telecom operators to expand data centers and invest in dedicated hardware.

Main Market Trends

Investment spending per CP is projected to rise from $74 in 2024 to $116 in 2030, with CP capex representing 2.5% of global GDP investment. Capital intensity in the telecom sector will decrease until 2027, followed by an increase due to mobile network upgrades.

Regional leaders in revenue and capex include North America, Oceania & East Asia, and Western Europe, while Central and South Asia are noted as regions with the highest growth potential.

Omdia's forecasts are based on a comprehensive model that includes historical data from 67 countries, local market dynamics, regulatory trends, and patterns of technology migration.
