Small Power Bitcoin Reward: Won 265 Thousand Dollars

As Bitcoin price fluctuations and investor interest around the world increase, a special event that took place on the Bitcoin network has drawn attention. On Friday, a miner, operating with just 6 terahash/second (TH/s) of computing power, managed to solve a block through solo mining. This success earned the miner a total reward of 3,146 Bitcoin. According to current prices, this reward is valued at around 265 thousand dollars.

The miner's computing power was noted to account for only 0.0000007% of the total network power, measured against the standard unit in the industry, exahash (EH/s). The average power of the Bitcoin network reached 855.7 EH/s in October. In this context, Con Kolivas, the founder of CKpool, stated that the miner's chance of solving a block in a day was 1 in 180 million, highlighting how exceptional this event was.

The block, which won in the context of the third win in the 1960s, was recorded as the 308th solo block solved with CKpool software and was the first solo mining success in about three months. Such lucky solo mining examples are rare in Bitcoin history. For instance, in 2022, a miner found a block with 126 TH/s at a network power of 170 EH/s, and the probability of this situation was determined to be 1 in 1.3 million.

CKpool is an anonymous solo Bitcoin mining pool that has been operating since 2014. On this platform, accessible at solo.ckpool.org, miners who manage to solve a block can receive the entire reward with a 2% fee. This feature has made the pool popular among many small miners who want to try their luck even with low power. This recent example once again proved that luck can favor even small devices despite the intense competition in the Bitcoin network.
