Search for Balance in Crypto Markets: Fed's Interest Rate Decision Expected

Cryptocurrency markets are focused on the Fed meeting scheduled for October 28-29. Investors are reviewing their positions with less than a week remaining until the interest rate decision to be announced on the evening of October 29. The CME FedWatch tool indicates that there is a 99% probability that the Fed will implement a 25 basis point interest rate cut. This situation signals a significant change in the cryptocurrency markets, especially influenced by institutional capital.

The world's most valuable cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, has fluctuated from $120,000 to $108,000, displaying volatile behavior in recent months. Such disturbances draw investors' attention to the importance of every indicator. Onur Turan, the Chairman of the Board of WhiteBIT TR, made significant statements regarding this situation. The total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies continues to hover around $4 trillion. According to the third-quarter report published by CoinGecko, it is projected that the market size will exceed $4 trillion by the third quarter of 2025.

The report also notes that the market value of stable cryptocurrencies has increased by $44.5 billion. With the entry of institutional investors, it is observed that traditional cycles in cryptocurrency markets are transforming. Onur Turan stated, “We are living in a market atmosphere that is more sensitive to macro agendas rather than a market solely driven by investor sentiment. This sensitivity to the macro agenda stems from a medium- to long-term strategic perspective rather than short-term and emotionally based movements.”

Turan noted the increasing interest in cryptocurrency markets recently, saying, “We see a growing number of investors approaching crypto as a long-term investment vehicle and institutional companies allocating more space for crypto assets in their asset management. I can especially say that regulated vehicles like exchange-traded funds (ETFs) facilitate the flow of money into cryptocurrency markets.”

Some anomalies and sharp price movements observed in October indicate that the market has matured and taken on a complex structure. These developments underscore the need for a reevaluation of cryptocurrencies. Bear and bull cycles that define rails or limited periods do not adequately describe the current market conditions.
